Hey hey hey, welcome back to the Gauge 3D blog! I’m Gage, your favorite kid 3D print master, and today I’m breaking down one of my absolute favorite parts of running this business — MakerWorld. 🎉

If you’ve ever wondered, “Where do all those cool 3D printed designs come from?” — MakerWorld is a huge part of the answer. It’s basically a giant library of 3D models made by creators all over the world, and it works directly with my Bambu Lab printer like magic. ✨

🌍 What is MakerWorld?

MakerWorld is Bambu Lab’s official model-sharing platform. Think of it like an app store — but instead of downloading games, you’re downloading blueprints for real, physical objects you can hold in your hands. How awesome is that?!

Creators from around the globe upload everything from fidget toys and articulated animals to phone stands, plant pots, and desk organizers. There are literally thousands of designs to pick from — and more go up every single day. 🐉🌀

🔍 How to Find the Perfect Model

Finding a design on MakerWorld is super easy:

• Search by keyword — just type what you want! “fidget toy,” “dragon,” “keycap,” whatever!
• Browse categories — toys, tools, household, art, and more
• Filter by printer — I always filter for Bambu Lab printers so I know it’ll print perfectly
• Check ratings and makes — popular designs with lots of “makes” (prints) are usually the best quality
• Look at the print time — some models take 20 minutes, others can take 10+ hours for big detailed pieces

Pro tip from me, Gage: Always scroll through the photos other people have printed. If theirs look great, yours probably will too! 📸

🖨️ From Model to Real Life — The Process

Once I find a model I love, here’s what happens:

1. I download the file and open it in Bambu Studio (the slicer software)
2. I choose the filament color — this is where my AMS (Automatic Material System) shines, letting me print in up to 4 colors at once 🌈
3. I pick the right settings — layer height, infill, supports — depending on the model
4. I send it to the printer and let it do its thing!
5. After it’s done, I remove any supports, clean it up, and it’s ready to go

The whole thing is honestly SO satisfying. There’s nothing better than watching a design go from a flat screen to a real object you can hold. 🙌
